Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are manmade, fluorinated organic chemicals that have been under serious scrutiny in recent years due to their persistent nature. While many regulations continue to focus on just a handful of specific PFAS, such as perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), others are beginning to set limits on PFAS in general. Given there are thousands of chemicals that can fall under the PFAS umbrella, advancements in PFAS analysis have been needed.
