A foam solution/pre mix test (discharge test) is conducted on foam fire protection systems to ensure the foam proportioning system is performing correctly. NFPA and other recognized standards recommend that discharge tests be conducted on systems when they are installed and annually thereafter.
- The foam proportioning system must proportion the concentrate within specific concentrations to ensure proper foam quality.
- Too low of a concentration and the foam will be mixed too lean and have lower performance.
- Too high of a concentration and the foam will be mixed too rich and will empty the tank quicker than required.
Dyne Fire Protection Labs can determine the percent concentration of the foam solution. Simply send the solution along with a sample of the foam concentrate from the system and a sample of the water being used by that system.
